Biomechanical Assessment For Horse Riders
Victoria, our chiropractor, has a life-long passion for horse riding.
She understands how important it is to feel like we are as balanced and effective as we can be when riding, to help our equine friends. Modern life, our jobs, old injuries and other hobbies don’t always go hand-in-hand with being at our best and strongest for riding. Common riding faults are often linked to patterns of posture or weakness in certain muscles or groups of muscles. Getting assessed to find out where your particular problems are is the first step on becoming a stronger, more balanced and more effective rider. It doesn’t matter whether your goals are competitive, unaffiliated or simply hacking, improving our strength in key muscle groups will help you meet them.
Our biomechanical assessment is a 90-minute appointment, where we discuss all the current issues you are having during your riding (both you and your horse), any current aches and pains you might have and your past health and any injuries. Then we assess the movement control, strength and function of the key parts of your body involved in riding. Typically this is the msucles around your chest and trunk – your seat. But it could include leg and/or arm strength as well! We then have a discussion about how best to fix any issues which we discover – whether exercises alone are sufficient to correct any issues or whether we’d recommend treatment as well.
A bespoke exercise program is then made for you. Victoria will walk you through all the exercises, to make sure you are happy doing them. All your exercises are sent to you via your email, so you have all the videos and instructions to refer to at home. As with all exercises, it takes time for strength to build up. Some people like to come back for a return visit to assess their progress, but others are happy to take the exercises and work through them in their own time. If we think you need some treatment, we’ll explain the best timeframe for that to happen.
So what are you waiting for? Book online today to take the first step towards getting stronger – your horse will thank you for it!
The assessment costs £90. Any treatment included will be charged at our regular rate of £45.
